In the rapidly developing power industry, bearings, as key components, play an important role in many motors. Especially during motor maintenance, the insulation treatment of bearings requires special attention. GENBRG has extensive experience in this area and would like to share the following key points.
There are two main common methods of bearing insulation: using insulated bearings and applying insulated bearing chambers.
Insulated bearings: Insulated bearings are usually divided into inner and outer ring coatings, and rolling elements using ceramic materials. The inner and outer ring coatings are usually coated with ceramic materials on the bearing surface through plasma spraying technology, which can maintain excellent insulation properties even in humid environments. Ceramic material rolling type insulated bearings are composed of rolling elements made of ceramic material, which have excellent current blocking capabilities and effectively achieve insulation.
Insulated bearing chamber: This method is usually to paste a polytetrafluoroethylene film on the hole in the end cover bearing chamber to isolate the current transfer between the bearing and the end cover.
When repairing a motor, no matter what insulation method is used, the following points should be paid attention to:
Control of tolerances of shaft and bearing chamber: ensure that the bearing can rotate flexibly without any sense of obstruction after being pressed in. If it rotates sluggishly, the bearing may be oversized or has a tolerance problem.
Bearing assembly method: Insulated bearings are high-precision products. Professional molds must be used during assembly to avoid direct knocking. When pressing into the bearing, make sure the force is applied evenly to avoid damage.
Prevent foreign matter from assembling: When assembling the bearing, make sure it is clean and prevent foreign matter, such as iron filings, from entering the inside of the bearing. At the same time, oil or grease should not be applied inside the bearing chamber.
Prevent paint rust: Especially in enclosed motors, high-quality insulating paint should be selected and fully ventilated after drying to prevent paint rust.
